Industrial Pipefitting Skills

Introduction

A piping system is a complete network of pipes, fittings, valves, and related components designed to work together to convey, control, and monitor a wide variety of fluids in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry. Each system is designed according to the condition and type of fluid to be conveyed, the temperature, pressure, flow rate, and the working atmosphere of the system. These types of systems include chemical, gas, and fuel oil, steam, water, and cooling systems. At JTI, the Pipe fitting program includes primary site and shop safety, hand and power tools, drawings and specifications, pipe-related equipment, rigging and hoisting, Oxyfuel cutting, welding, skills related to the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems. The curriculum is based on the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and the requirements of local industries such as Saudi Aramco and SABIC.

Industrial Pipefitting Skills is a project-based training program where students participate in the actual construction of various types of piping systems used in industry to simulate real fabrication situations, alignment, and rigging installation techniques needed to develop the skills to be a competent Pipefitter.

Career Opportunities

After successfully completing the training period, the graduate will be qualified for any of the following jobs:

  • Pipefitter
